Dr Hans Hoffmann, senior manager in the EBU Technology and Development Department, has been elected Engineering Vice President of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) for a two year term beginning January 2012.
| Hans was first appointed to this post in 2011, and with this election he will continue for a further two years.
Role of the VP The SMPTE is the primary organisation developing specifications for programme production, which are used widely around the world. The role of the Engineering Vice President is to steer and guide the work of the many activities of the SMPTE as we move into the age of 3DTV and UHDTV.
