German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) has chosen EBU PEACH as a recommendation engine for its digital products. Deutsche Welle will leverage PEACH’s community-driven approach and cost-effective technology to help manage the delivery of high-quality news content in 32 languages and across a range of digital channels. DW also stands to benefit from the collective experiences of other broadcasters within the PEACH community.
DW plans to utilize PEACH primarily for recommendation use-cases in upcoming projects. The development team is eager to explore additional functionalities of the platform, including tracking, data visualization, and potential cross-language search capabilities.
“PEACH is the answer to so many questions that we have been asking ourselves for some time,” says Guido Baumhauer, Managing Director Distribution, Marketing and Technology at DW. “With it, we can better provide our users with even more content that better matches their interests and behavior while also expanding their horizons with more diversified recommendations. We can thereby better promote our focus topics while still fulfilling the DW mission.”
Community and collaboration at its core
EBU PEACH distinguishes itself with a unique business model that emphasizes community and collaboration.
The PEACH toolkit covers use-cases from recommendations to analytics and data science. The ongoing community development keeps the feature set up to date and also ensures that the platform can adapt to non-standard use cases of individual media organizations.
