FORECAST is our annual seminar on the evolution of media distribution technologies, spectrum issues, regulation and associated business models. This year, due to the Covid-19 sanitary restrictions, it will be an online event.
On the agenda
- OTT distribution: All EBU Members have included the Internet as one of their key distribution platforms. This session will discuss challenges and learnings, and how EU regulation is (or isn't) adressing media distribution over OTT.
- Wireless broadband: Key technology developments for the media industry in the broadband world, including the latest work on 5G standarisation process, the role the satellite industry is taking, the DVB-I standard, and connected cars.
- WRC-23 preparations for broadcasters: The industry's preparations for the next ITU World Radiocommunications Conference 2023 with a particular emphasis on the review of the UHF band, the core spectrum for DTT. An update on the latest 5G Broadcast trials will show the potential for innovation in the UHF band. An overview of the WRC-23 plans to review stallite broadcasting bands will also be considered.
