This EBU Tech Roundtable was organized by the EBU Audio Systems and Timed Text groups. It was aimed at audio and accessibility professionals working for broadcasters and solution providers. The goal was to come to a better understanding of the potential roll-out of improved Speech Intelligibility services, which aim to improve the perception of dialogue audio in television programmes.
There are various technical ways of setting up such services, each with specific benefits and drawbacks (quality, impact on workflows, etc.). Future services may benefit from new technical options (e.g. NGA).
Topics addressed
- Broadcaster use cases (ongoing trials, experiences gathered, outlook)
- Technical impediments for implementing services (e.g. service labelling, workflow implications)
Presentations
The presentaitons are available for the event participants and EBU Members.
